How Online Lead Generation Helps Your Marketing

There’s an organic way to generate leads beyond cold-calling that will make your potential clients feel valued. By using online marketing strategies, you can even save time and gather more leads than traditional marketing tactics.

What is lead generation?

Lead generation is the process of attracting prospective clients to your business and increasing their interest through nurturing, all with the end goal of converting them into a customer.

This is a method of inbound marketing. By organically attracting interest online, it is much easier to transition an interested audience into actual clients.

The Lead Generation Process

The lead generation process is part of a buyer’s journey. In the buyer’s journey you: attract, convert, close and delight. The lead generation is the point where you attract a visitor and potentially convert them into a customer.

A visitor discovers your business through one of your online marketing channels, such as your website, blog, or social media pages.

That visitor then clicks on your call-to-action (CTA), which could be an image, button, or message that encourages website visitors to take some sort of action, like clicking a link to a landing page.

That CTA takes your visitor to a landing page, a web page designed to capture lead information in exchange for an offer.

Once on the landing page, your visitor fills out a form with their contact information in exchange for the offer.

Typically, the offer you provide to a visitor is a type of resource or content. This can be a free e-book, educational course, template, video or signing up for a free consultation or a product trial.

How do you promote your landing page? You can use different online strategies, such as emails, blogs and social media.

Emails are great for a built-in audience who is already familiar with your services. Blogs, whether written or video, make it easy to personalise and tailor the content to your audience’s needs. Social media, meanwhile, has existing features that make it easy to send a visitor to your landing page and you can easily add CTAs in your captions.

Once you’ve captured a lead, you will want to take the appropriate steps to nurture them through your buyer’s journey. To ensure you convert visitors into customers, use CTAs through each phase of the buyer’s journey and throughout your website.
